Missouri Representative Brian Seitz (R-District 156) Gives and Update on SJR74

Liberty Link Missouri President Bev Ehlen gives an update on SJR74, better known as Initiative Petition (IP) Reform with Missouri Representative Brian Seitz (R-District 156).

Outside-special interest groups can easily change our Missouri Constitution to fit their agenda via the Initiative Petition process (IP).

SJR74 has too many flaws to be considered a viable option for “IP Reform.” We are counting on the House to “fix” the damaged SJR74 that came over from the Senate.

We must pass a more complete way to amend our Missouri Constitution – one that will take the power to change our constitution away from wealthy outside special interest groups and give it back to the people of Missouri.

We need the “IP Reform” to include:

• Allowing only U.S. citizens to vote on constitutional amendments;
• Forbidding foreign countries from funding constitutional amendments;
• Passing constitutional amendments by a majority vote statewide and in a majority of state congressional districts.
