Our sins are not blotted out by how "well" we’re doing. If we can keep a "no sinning" streak up, or by any kind of works.

Our sins are blotted out when we seek the Lord in repentance. It is Gods just mercy and faithfulness that draws us into this repentance so that our sins are removed from us because of His son, who died on the cross for our sins, so that we could live a life in freedom from sin. It is because of this, and Gods grace, that we become free.

Not by anything we do, but everything He does.
