Witchcraft rituals pollute the Magdalena River

Items needed for witchcraft pollute the Magdalena River , one of the last living rivers in Mexico City, which supplies drinking water to homes in the Magdalena Contreras neighborhood.

Dead animals, underwear, ties, wooden devils and voodoo dolls are some of the items polluting the upper part of the river, located in the Dynamo quarter and passing through the protected area of the National Park .

Although at the entrance to Cuarto Dynamo, visitors are greeted by a poster prohibiting the rituals of Santeria and black magic . This is a problem that authorities and community members have failed to eradicate.

In the midst of Mexico City's water crisis , caused by water shortages in the Couttsamala system, this open flow of water flows down the Dynamos into boxes or containers operated by the Mexico City Water System (Sacmex) which distribute water to residents' homes.

It is a very important river , since it supplies water not only to Magdalena Contreras, but also to other municipalities of the capital.
