Australian Government approves GM vaccine clinical trial despite negligible risks

A licence was issued to Avance Clinical on 25 June 2021 for a trial to assess the intranasal administration of a Genetically Modified (GM) vaccine for COVID-19.

The Risk Assessment and Risk Management Plan (RARMP) concluded that the clinical trial posed negligible risks to people and the environment. But flimsy licence conditions were imposed and it was issued.

The GM vaccine is imported and delivered directly to trial sites. Up to 100 healthy people will participate in the trial.
