A video circulating on social media has sparked controversy as a “fully autonomous” AI robot named Mohammad appeared to grope a reporter, Rawya Kassem, during an interview at the DeepFest technology festival in Saudi Arabia.

In the footage, the robot seems to touch Kassem’s behind, prompting her to quickly move away and motion for it to stop.

Developed by robotics firm QSS, Mohammad was designed to assist in hazardous conditions and improve safety for humans.

QSS stated that a review found no deviations from the expected behavior but pledged to take additional measures to prevent people from getting too close to the robot during its movements, the New York Post reported.
