An Industrial Shortline Railroad and an Abandoned Burlington Northern Relic

I wanted to visit an industrial shortline in Bensenville, Illinois again. I was here a few years ago and wanted to see if the abandoned Burlington Northern E unit was still here. It was. And it seems to have deteriorated more with each passing year.

This relic train locomotive has a story behind it. I'm just not sure what that story is. It has been abandoned on the same dead-end spur in an industrial park for many years. It's rusting and falling apart, and has been victimized over the years by gang graffiti artists to the point where there is more graffiti visible than there is original green paint color. There are NO windows left intact. Kind of a sad state of existence when you think about it.

At least I was able to document its existence and condition today, as I'm sure its days are numbered. If you know the history of this locomotive (it is in BN paint scheme and also has a MARC logo on the side), shout out below. I have heard many stories and rumors, but nothing presented to me as solid information. I have heard that this is the old BN9912 which struck a pedestrian in Downers Grove in 1991. However I do not believe this to be the case.

Enjoy the video. Thank you for watching.
