Apr. 23, 1964 - President Johnson, speaking against a background of chanting civil rights demonstrators, dedicated the 1964-65 World's Fair yesterday with a plea for world peace and equality for all men. The heavily-guarded Chief Executive, speaking under gray skies in a light rain, dedicated the $500 million fairgrounds in ceremonies at Singer Bowl and the U.S. Pavilion.
