Russian Iskander missile destroyed US MIM-104 Patriot Air defense system

This is the first confirmed destruction of two launchers of the American Patriot air defense system near Sergeevka.

Despite the caption to the Russian Ministry of Defense video about the destruction of the S-300, analysts in Ukraine and Russia identified the MIM-104 Patriot missile defense system and the MAN KAT1 truck in the destroyed air defense system.
We see a convoy of launchers and escort vehicles of an anti-aircraft missile system appeared on March 9. Almost immediately, the location was established - a highway 13 km west of Pokrovsk, between the village of Udachnoye and the village of Sergeevka.
According to preliminary data, as a result of the use of the Iskander OTRK, three launchers of the American Patriot air defense system were destroyed, along with the illumination and guidance radar.
Compared to typical targets such as a stand-alone radar or launcher, such a “catch” suggests that the Russian missilemen “caught” the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ air defense column at the most opportune moment to hit it—during a short stop while being transferred to a new position.
It is noteworthy that the three destroyed launchers are actually half of the SAM battalion of this type (a full MIM-204 Patriot battery includes up to eight launchers).
Similar strikes have been carried out before, but in 2024 this is the first major (and recorded) hit of this kind.
