Entitled Women Think They Can Steal With No Consequences

At 0127 officer was in the area. Officer observed Suspect 1 carrying a white sandwich board sign west on Clayton St. Officer recognized the sign as one of the county owned signs that are in the closed area of College Ave. Suspect 1 opened the back hatch of a white Jeep and started putting the sign into the vehicle. Officer rode up behind her and asked if the sign belonged to her. Suspect 1 responded with no we are stealing it. Suspect 2 who was with Suspect 1 said that it was their sign. Officer told them that it was county property and officer knew that it did not belong to them. Officer asked for both of their ID's. Officer told suspect 1 that she was under arrest and started to handcuff her right wrist. Suspect 2 ran up and grabbed the officers left arm and tried to pull the officer away from suspect 1. Officer pushed her back and told another officer to detain Suspect 2. Both suspects smelled of alcohol and were belligerent with officers. Officer 2 charged Suspect 2 with public intoxication and obstruction. Officer 1 charged Suspect 1 with theft by taking and Public Intoxication. Officers walked the suspects to the downtown station where the officers turned the suspects over to transport.
