A Cleveland man is facing charges after police say he struck an uninvolved car while leading officers on a chase through Parma and into Cleveland, Parma police said Friday.

According to a police report, Parma police observed Eric William Clark, 47, driving 44 mph in a 25 mph zone on Broadview Road just after 1 p.m. on Feb. 29. Officers trailed the vehicle and saw Clark and a white woman “inside the vehicle, frantically moving unknown items and bags around the interior of the vehicle.”

After the pursuing officer activated lights and sirens, Clark fled north on Broadview Road at increased speeds exceeding 70 mph, leading officers into Cleveland. Police on Friday released dashboard and body camera footage of the pursuit.

Near the intersection of Broadview and W. Schaaf Road, Clark veered into oncoming traffic and struck a Dodge station wagon that was entering Broadview Road from Hillcrest Avenue.

Police say Clark and the woman exited the car and fled on foot, running through backyards and scaling fences at nearby homes. Clark was found hiding near the garage of a home on Saratoga Avenue and detained.

The woman escaped after scaling a chain link fence on Saratoga Avenue and has not been located or identified.
