Newstead Abbey, the noble seat of Lord George Gordon Byron, 6th Baron Byron, is almost 1000 years old. During its life it has seen Augustine monks, Plantagenet kings hunting deer, the bloody Dissolution of the Monarchies and the rise of 400 years of Byron. Poet Lord Byron was its last Byron owner after nine generations, and his family credo can be spotted on Newstead Abbey's walls.
