Yosemite Ahwahnee Hotel Tour & Review ~SECRET SUITE~ The El Dorado Diggens Room

The hidden Diggens room in the Ahwahnee hotel was where we stayed on this adventure through Yosemite National Park!

We had the opportunity to review the El Dorado Diggens suite in between hiking to Nevada Falls, Vernal Falls, and Yosemite Falls.

The room was excellent with plenty of space and a sunken living room that really gave the room an airy and light-filled ambience. Through the Western wall in the bedroom you can hear the piano playing in the Ahwahnee grand dining room.

Overall I would give the suite itself a 7 out of ten stars and the hotel an 8 out of ten. The Yosemite Valley is the star of the show at this hotel and the views are nearly impossible to beat.

We hiked over 10 miles on our visit including the 7.5+ mile hike to the very top of Yosemite Falls. The Yosemite Falls hike includes ~3400' feet of elevation gain and took us over five hours. During the winter this hike is very strenuous with the added challenge of ice and snow. I would not recommend it (summer or winter) for anyone who isn't in decent shape. Always check the forecast and take plenty of water.
