Surah Al-Qamar is the 54th surah (chapter) of The Glorious Quran. Name of the surah means The Moon. It has 55 ayaat (verses) and was revealed in the holy city of Makkah i.e., before Prophet ﷺ migrated to the city of Medina. This surah can be found in juz / paara 27.

Introduction:

This Meccan sûrah, which takes its name from the splitting of the moon mentioned in verse 1, criticizes the disbelievers for rejecting warnings of the fast-approaching Hour. The pagans are warned of a dreadful fate similar to that of earlier disbelievers, who were mentioned passingly in the previous sûrah (53:50-54). The sûrah concludes by announcing that the righteous will be honoured in the presence of the Almighty, which is the highlight of the next sûrah.
