Summary? A yet-recognizable, mostly-intact legacy tool with documented use by the farm. Used to be another garden spot down there, I'm told. Harrow left at last use as operations faded. Got a great "Ah, that's where I left it"-type comment from owner like we would misplace car keys (but bet it's location would be tagged after 30 seconds thought). Harrow was still half-buried at that point.
Other than digging out a piece of metal 5x the size first suspected, the dealbreaker had been the combo fencepost/heavy metal bar across one end. Added for weight? Likely. But also to connect the two halves. A little cleaning and squinting will show why they weren't attached together as original ... uh, unless are 2 smaller ones? At any rate, only a casual attachment with thick wires. Once unwound, both metal and post were separate and easy to move.
And the harrow frame easily freed thereafter. I did lever out edges on a previous visit but can't do it en masse without risking some bendage or breakage. Some of the buried iron was really getting eaten away.
