In the 1990s an airplane enthusiast wrote on a forum: "On my return trip from the ILA in Berlin I came across a piece of nostalgia somewhere near the former German-East German border It was an Ilyushin 18, along a back road near the small village of Harbke near Helmsted. The plane has been converted into a bar/restaurant but unfortunately every connection was closed. While we were looking for a good place to take a photo, the door The entrance opened and the owner asked us to come in and have a look. The people who ran the bar ran out of money and the owner now lives next door to the Ilyushin, together with his wife, to avoid vandalism. , but due to his not so good health he wants to sell the plane. We were invited to drink a coffee and eat a cake (very tasty) on board, telling his story about the plane. He bought it about 10 years ago ago and then the problem arose of how to move the plane from Berlin to its current location, not even close to an airport. We were shown photos of the transportation and reconstruction of the Ilyushin. Truly impressive work!"

Finally, in 2007 the Il-18 was purchased and moved to its current location at Teuge Airport in the Netherlands.
Once transported to this location, the entire plane was transformed into a single luxury suite for two guests with a whirlpool tub, separate shower, infrared sauna, minibar and full bedroom.
