TEACHING NOTES:
The Cost of “Fear of People’s Opinions”

You Trade Big Dreams for Little Dreams.
You Trade Authenticity for Approval.
You Trade Happiness for Anxiety.
You Trade Your Purpose for other people’s Satisfaction.

Defeating FOPO to Live Your Potential…
Matthew 7:1-5 (NLT) “Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged. “And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own? How can you think of saying to your friend, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye?5 Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.

Refuse to Judge Others Selfishly.
John 7:24 (NASB) Do not judge by the outward appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”

Matthew 7:12 (NLT) “Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.

Don’t Surrender Your Value to Others.
Matthew 7:6 (NASB) “Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, or they will trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.

Matthew 7:13-14 (NLT) “You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.

Find Your Identity in Christ and Encouragement in Community.
Matthew 7:3-5 (NLT) “And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own? How can you think of saying to your friend, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.

Matthew 7:20 (NLT) Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions.

Proverbs 11:14 (NASB) Where there is no guidance the people fall, But in an abundance of counselors there is victory.

Trust God with Your Destiny.
Matthew 7:7-11 (NLT) “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. “You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.

Eph. 2:8-10 (NLT) God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

Psalm 23:1 (NLT) The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need
