27.02.24 - Captured AFU serviceman Anatoly Prokudin, who surrendered to assault detachments of the Russian Armed Forces during the liberation of Avdeyevka, said that he got in the army by chance and had always tried to avoid military service. Before service, he spent a whole year in a high-security psychiatric hospital.

'I received a draft notice in the spring, so I kept it, and only on 9 August I was taken away. When we went to the firing range, they told me: tell the deputy that you did time in jail. Moreover, I was not just in jail - I spent year in the Republican Psychiatric Hospital,' said the serviceman.

When Anatoly was drafted and sent to the front line after a month of training, he got immediately wounded and concussed. After treatment in the hospital and recovery on leave, the man was again forced to continue service.

'They put me in the Ural, took me to Novosyolovka. We did not reach the drop point 200 metres away - we were blown up by a mine. Then the AFU found us and took us to the headquarters. The task was to cover the withdrawal of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, and we had two automatic rifles and four grenades. We passed only a short distance and mortar shelling started. The group scattered. We waited out the shelling and went home to my comrade, who was a local.
