Is Florida going to BAN MINORS from social media?
In short: No. It's all a bit of misrepresentation to drum up enough people to vocalize ignorance to stop it. The bill (HB1 and HB3) were written to prohibit COMPANIES from entering into a contract with minors, and then plugging them into their addictive, predatory algorithms and piping age-inappropriate content to them, or allowing predators who use the algorithms to access and pipe content to them. It's not going to punitively come after children who try to access social media, nor parents. It's not going to make it illegal for children to access social media. It's going to make the companies responsible for the contracts they make with minors. The companies could also, according to the bill, simply change their algorithms, change some of the key aspects like infinite scroll, which promote addictive behaviors, and then the bill would no longer apply and they would be free to allow minors under 16 on the platform once they resolve those content issues.

Can you believe it? March is here and there's so much going on. We thought we were civilized, but we had no idea we're actually living in the wild west. Everyone's asking questions about what's going on in the world. You go to a party, or have a few drinks with friends and there's NO TELLING where the conversations will end up.
WHEW! Well, here we are to give a lawyer's perspective. This is NOT legal advice and should never be taken as such. We do this podcast for entertainment and perhaps even educational value.
But without further context - let's go live!
