Kyiv Sees Risk of Russia Breaking Through Defenses by Summer

Concerns are rising among Ukrainian officials who fear that Russian advances may significantly escalate by summer unless their allies can enhance the ammunition supply, as indicated by a source familiar with their analysis.

Internal assessments from Kyiv paint an increasingly grim picture on the battlefield, with Ukrainian forces grappling to repel Russian attacks while carefully rationing the number of shells they can deploy.

Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi acknowledged on Thursday that mistakes by frontline commanders have exacerbated challenges in Ukraine’s defenses around Avdiivka, recently captured by Russian forces.

In response, Syrskyi stated that he had dispatched additional troops and ammunition to reinforce Ukrainian positions, Bloomberg reported.
