Russia has spaced-based nuclear weapons! That is the clarion call issued by the House Armed Services Committee Chairman during an attempt to get a $65 billion check sent to Ukraine. The big question, once the truth came out that while the threat of an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) nuclear detonation in space is an existential threat, but that Russia has not fielded any such weapon system yet, is what is the technology required to achieve this capability, or does it already exist? Even more importantly is the question of why this capability and what is the risk incurred by any country that takes this step in putting nuclear weapons in orbit? My guest today is a retired US Navy Commander, F/A-18 Hornet weapon system officer, Flight Test Officer, National Reconnaissance Office Liaison officer and Integrated Product Team Lead, Space and Launch Operations Division Director, in other words, a literal rocket scientist and military space operations expert.
