Bodycam footage released of Texas megachurch shooting

Video contains distressing footage

Footage has been released of the February 11 shooting at Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas. Security camera video shows 36-year-old Genesse Moreno enter the church complex, accompanied by her 7-year-old son. Bodycam footage from a security officer taken later captures the first sounds of gunfire, followed by churchgoers fleeing as the officer runs towards the shooter.

An officer can be heard calling for backup over the sound of now-rapid gunfire, and then Moreno can be heard shouting, ‘I have a bomb!’

Moreno was eventually killed at the scene by police gunfire. Her son was wounded and underwent multiple surgeries but is expected to recover, according to his grandmother. No one else was killed in the shooting, which Pastor Joel Osteen said took place in between services, and that the timing may have helped to prevent further casualties.
