Bodycam shows struggle before officer shot and felony assault suspect killed

During the altercation on February 15, 2024, around 3:45 p.m. at Café Rica in Battle Creek, the female officer was shot in the leg and a backup officer ultimately shot and killed the suspect.

Police were originally called to Café Rica for an unwanted person around 9 a.m. When officers arrived the Texas man, identified as Dario Agudelo and described as nearly 6-foot-2, left the business without incident.

Officers then received a call of a felonious assault near the Kellogg House around 3 p.m. Less than a hour later, officers returned to Café Rica around 3:42 p.m. where they identified Agudelo as the assault suspect and approached him.
