Randomly Soul Beside

It snowed in Toronto recently, and as I shoveled the driveway, a crow flew overhead. So loudly it cawed, as it settled on the tippy-top of a 50’ hemlock nearby. I paused, arched my back just so, and greeted the bird.

“Hello crow. Tomorrow’s the big day,” I said. “Tell your friends.”

Well, didn’t the crow, from its perch on-high, caw back its reply.

I swear, I felt closer to God.
