My own solution to protect my food crops that ALWAYS gets destroyed during settlement attacks

If you plant food crops at ground level in this game, you are just ASKING for them to get destroyed during settlement attacks. With the Wasteland Workshop DLC, this is no longer an issue, as long as you know HOW to use it properly.
