Aboard the International Space Station, NASA astronaut Jasmin Moghbeli, ESA (European Space Agency) astronaut and current station commander, Andy Mogensen, and JAXA (Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency) astronaut Satoshi Furakawa, discussed science and research taking place on the space station on Feb. 21 with NASA Administrator Bill Nelson and Dr. Lisa Carnell, division director of physical and biological sciences. Moghbeli, Mogensen, and Furakawa also answered questions from the media during the event. The trio are in the midst of a long-duration mission living and working aboard the microgravity laboratory to advance scientific knowledge and demonstrate new technologies for future human and robotic exploration missions. Such research benefits people on Earth and lays the groundwork for future human exploration through the agency’s Artemis missions, which will send astronauts to the Moon to prepare for future expeditions to Mars.
