The pivotal component for fighter jets and helicopters is the engine.

While India's Kaveri Engine project, aimed at developing a fighter jet engine, is currently inactive, France is playing a crucial role by supplying high-quality engines for Indian military helicopters.

The Safran group and HAL have been producing military helicopter engines in India for over six decades. This collaboration started with Turbomeca and HAL joining forces to create Artouste Turboshaft engines for powering India's Chetak helicopter.

The partnership has endured over the decades, and it continues to flourish as Safran engages in agreements with India for the development of essential engines for future helicopter models.
