The near sacrifice of Isaac stands as one of the most studied stories in the Bible because of its Messianic connections. Jesus as God in the flesh relived the entire scenario during his Passion, only he went the whole nine yards, offering himself up as the final sacrifice. But there is more to the story. As it turns out, the event was a seal on the promise first made to Abraham and assured before the heavens that the fallen sons of God would be defeated and the nations brought back to God.
