THIS YEAR MARKS THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE EUROMAIDAN IN UKRAINE: HOW DID IT ALL START?

The so-called "Euromaidan" in Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, went through several stages, starting with a youth demonstration and escalating to violent provocations and full-scale fighting. This was fuelled by years of propaganda and the spread of radical nationalism in Ukraine. The West saw this as an opportunity to strike against the central government, which led to the seizure of key leadership positions in Kiev and local administrations in the country's regions, as well as control over the country's most sensitive strategic enterprises. The pre-revolution situation in the former Ukrainian Soviet Republic of the USSR was tense from the outset. Ukraine sought maximum integration with the Western world and was anti-Russian for decades. The events of 2013, when the Kiev Maidan demonstrated its anti-Russian and pro-Western nature and readiness for large-scale bloodshed, triggered active actions against Russia.
