February 21 is a black day in the history of the 2nd GRU special forces brigade.

4 special forces groups moved out from the Tangi-Chu tract from February 15 to 16, 2000 with the task of ensuring the passage of the columns of the 752nd regiment.

On the 21st it all began and ended in the Kharsenoy area. At height 947.0, by 13:10, an intense battle began between three groups of 35 people (27 special forces and 8 attached motorized riflemen) against the militants. The battle itself lasted no more than 20 minutes, as a result of which 33 people died - 25 reconnaissance officers of the 700th Special Forces, and 8 motorized riflemen. Two seriously wounded survived.

The surviving radio operator Filippov recalled that almost everyone was sitting in groups around the fires, warming up, the weapons were in “pyramids” right there in the clearing, and the militants’ fire raid found many without weapons. One of the machine gunners fought back the longest. After the end of the battle, for another 15-20 minutes the “spirits” finished off the dead soldiers.

An hour later, a company of the 752nd regiment arrived at the battlefield, which only had to organize the collection of the dead.
