They hunt swimming underwater, spearing prey with their beak. You can often see their snake-like heads popping out from the water while they take a break from swimming.

You can see their feathers are not waterproof, so after they swim you will see them find a spot to post up and spread out their wings to dry and warm up. In the moments that they are waterlogged and looking for a spot to dry, they are a bit clumsy and can be entertaining to watch.
