Dagestan means "the land of mountains" in Turkic. This republic is a truly unique region with a rich history and culture. The poet Rasul Gamzatov glorified his Homeland to the whole world! By the way, this year the author of "Cranes" and many other wonderful works would have turned exactly 100 years old. 2023 has been declared the Year of Rasul Gamzatov in the republic.
