The Ring-necked Pheasant, scientifically known as Phasianus colchicus, is a striking and colorful bird native to Asia but widely introduced and established throughout North America and parts of Europe. With its vibrant plumage, the male Ring-necked Pheasant is particularly eye-catching, featuring iridescent shades of copper, green, and purple on its body, contrasted with a distinctive white collar around its neck and a long, barred tail. Females, in contrast, have mottled brown plumage, providing excellent camouflage in their natural habitats. These birds prefer open grasslands, agricultural fields, and brushy areas where they can forage for seeds, grains, insects, and small invertebrates.
