If you thought that Fulton County DA Fani Willis was a bizarre witness in the hearing over whether she should be removed from the case involving the prosecution of former President Donald Trump and others over alleged 2020 election interference, then here's some news: Apparently, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Fani Willis' father testified on Friday. The State apparently wanted to put him on to help her in regard to the questions about when the relationship started and her story about keeping cash at home. But I don't think it helped them make the point, and in the process, he had some pretty wild testimony. Willis' father, John Clifford Floyd III, who is a retired attorney, said that he lived with his daughter in her home in 2019. He said he knew about her former boyfriend, who was a D.J., but didn't hear about Nathan Wade, the special prosecutor with whom she had an affair. He said he didn't meet him until 2023, indicating that his daughter didn't mention him until he met him in 2023.

Floyd said he didn't know about the affair until about seven weeks ago. The problem with that testimony is that the pair already admitted they had been dating in 2022, and Willis didn't tell him about that. So it was clear she wasn't telling him everything. So he's not much of a witness on the subject. Indeed, if she didn't tell him, one has to think that maybe she didn't because she knew it was wrong. So that didn't help her at all. Floyd also testified about her keeping cash in the house, and this was something else. -- "When your daughter moved…did she say anything to you about having a large savings of cash?" - Fani Willis' Father: "I'm not trying to be racist, okay? But it's a black thing!" - "So is that a yes?" - "Yeah! Absolutely!" -- “Your Honor, I’m not trying to be racist, but it’s a black thing. Most black folks hide cash or keep cash,” Floyd said. He said he always told his daughter to keep cash around.

That's supposed to help the case that she might just have a lot of cash around to pay off Wade for paying for vacations for her. Viva Frei, who is a lawyer, noted this portion where Floyd admits he was prepped for his testimony. -- It seems that Fani’s attorneys, and possibly Fani herself, met with her father to “prep” his testimony on the cash. Does this qualify as witness intimidation/interference? On top of that, Floyd didn't pay attention to the direction not to watch anything about the other testimony and had seen news of his daughter's testimony. While Judge Scott McAfee said that he would not strike his testimony for not following the rules of sequestration, he said he would consider it against the father's credibility. Then there was this further point — Floyd says he knew about COVID before 2020 when it hit. Can we say bizarre? Fani Willis' father testifies that he had exclusive knowledge of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019 before it was announced to the world.

A little history on Floyd: Willis “was born in Inglewood, Calif., just outside Los Angeles, in 1971. Her father, John C. Floyd III, was a founder of the Black Panther Political Party in Los Angeles, of which Angela Davis was briefly a member,” the New York Times reported. According to the New York Post, Floyd told the Black Power Archives project that he dated Angela Davis in the late 1960s and was a leader in the Black Panther Movement in California. -- It's certainly been an interesting hearing.
