US delegation to attend youth forum in Russia, ramifications from Washington feared

Thousands of youth leaders from around the globe are set to convene in Russia’s Sirius Federal Territory for the 2024 World Youth Festival later this year. However, ahead of the event, the US delegation called a press conference at the UN amid concerns over potential ramifications for attending. The concern is because three American citizens have been charged with espionage for taking part in a different international event in Russia back in 2014.

RT's Caleb Maupin, who heads the US team for the Youth Forum, raised the issue at the UN.
