Supta Virasana, also known as Reclined Hero Pose, is a yoga pose that stretches the hip flexors, knees, and thighs.

How to do Supta Virasana

start by sitting in Virasana with your legs bent at the knees and your calves resting alongside your thighs, feet pointing backward.

Exhale and lower your back torso toward the floor, first leaning onto your hands, then your forearms and elbows.

Once you are on your elbows, place your hands on the back of your pelvis and release your lower back and upper buttocks by spreading the flesh down toward the tailbone.

Then, recline, supporting yourself with your elbows and forearms on the floor. Come out of the pose as recommended for Virasana. Supta Virasana is an intermediate pose and should not be performed by anyone who is uncomfortable sitting on their heels.

It is also important to avoid this pose unless you can sit your buttocks relatively easily on the floor between your feet

Benefits:

•It is also effective in relaxing the mind and body, relieving muscle aches, and improving digestion.

•Additionally, it can alleviate symptoms of medical conditions such as insomnia, infertility, headaches, flat feet, acid reflux, diarrhea, arthritis, high blood pressure, and gastroenteritis.

•However, it should be avoided by those with severe knee, back, or ankle problems and should be practiced under the guidance of an experienced yoga instructor.
