White House claims Russia developing ‘troubling’ new anti-satellite weapon

The White House has confirmed claims by several US media outlets that Russia is developing a ‘troubling’ new anti-satellite weapon, but says ‘there is no immediate threat to anyone's safety.’

Before those comments, the Kremlin spokesperson noted that the arrival of the allegations had coincided with Congressional wrangling over a $60 billion US aid package for Ukraine.
