Die Brieftaube Cher Ami und das „verlorene Bataillon“.

Anfang Oktober 1918 geriet die 77. Infanterie-Division der Vereinigten Staaten bei der Maas-Argonnen-Offensive zu weit hinter die deutschen Linien und fand sich plötzlich auf sich allein gestellt. Von allen Seiten unter Beschuß, inklusive aus den eigenen Reihen, ohne ausreichend Verpflegung und Munition, hatten sie schließlich keine andere Wahl mehr, als ihr Leben in die Hände – oder eher Flügel – der kleinen Brieftaube Cher Ami zu geben.
