The Iraqi judicial authorities announced on Thursday the recovery of the family of the leader of the former terrorist organization "ISIS" Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi from outside the country, and recorded their statements.

According to the Israeli Walla website, far-right ministers in Netanyahu's government, such as Ze'ev Elkin and Itamar Ben-Gvir, called for preventive measures to thwart any possible recognition of the Palestinian state, and they are pushing for an official cabinet resolution reaffirming Israel's opposition to such a state.

A recent meeting between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US Secretary of State Tony Blinken in Jerusalem reportedly issued a stark warning about possible U.S. recognition of a Palestinian state.

According to Israeli sources, Netanyahu told Blinken that any form of direct or indirect US recognition of the Palestinian state would be seen as a "self-blow," and this warning confirms the concern felt by the Israeli government about the possibility of a unilateral move by the Biden administration to recognize Palestine.

The Netanyahu administration is particularly concerned about the possibility of a shift in U.S. policy, which could emerge from decades of U.S. support for Palestinian statehood solely as a result of direct negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

Two weeks ago, it was reported that Secretary Blinken had instructed the State Department's Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the feasibility of U.S. recognition of a Palestinian state, as part of the postwar strategy in Gaza.Neither State Department spokespersons nor Blinken himself confirmed or denied the reports, noting that such assessments are routine and intended to present different policy options.

A statement issued by the Iraqi Supreme Judicial Council and reported by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) said that "the first Karkh Investigation Court, as part of its plan to recover those accused of terrorism cases who fled outside Iraq, was able to recover the family of terrorist criminal Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi."

The statement added that "under the direct supervision of the competent judge in the first Karkh investigation court, the family of the terrorist criminal Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was arrested and their statements were recorded, while investigations are still ongoing with them to reveal the most important secrets of ISIS terrorist gangs."
