Black Confederates honored at Mississippi Civil War monument

In respect for Black History Month, I drove to Canton, Mississippi to visit a Confederate monument which honors African Americans who fought for the Confederacy. After visiting the new Civil Rights Museum last month, it leaves a lot to ponder. This one-of-a kind memorial honors African Americans who served with Harvey's Scouts, a Confederate partisan unit. Willis Howcutt, commemorated on the monument inscription, was killed in combat.
