On January 13, 2024, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Century Station deputies were on patrol, in their marked patrol vehicle, in the 1600 block of Florence Avenue, in unincorporated Los Angeles. A female flagged down the deputies and told them that while she was working inside her parked food truck a male pointed a handgun at her and demanded money. The male was later identified as 38-year-old Noor Ramsis of Reseda. The female said she last saw Ramsis walking westbound on Florence Avenue and out of view. She provided a detailed description of Ramsis’ clothing and physical characteristics. Deputies located and contacted Ramsis walking on the sidewalk in the 1300 block of East Florence Avenue and ordered him to show them his hands. Ramsis turned toward the deputies while armed with a handgun, at which time a deputy-involved shooting occurred. Ramsis was struck by gunfire, dropped the handgun, and fell to the ground. Deputies rendered first aid until the arrival of Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics. Ramsis was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased. A loaded semiautomatic handgun was recovered at the scene. It was later determined that Ramsis committed an armed robbery at a business, a couple of hours prior to this incident, where he stole the handgun and money. There were no other persons injured in the incident.
