Indianapolis City-County Council President Stephen Clay and fired clerk Natrina DeBow held separate press conferences on Tuesday to address last week's firings and a resulting internal audit of the council. Tuesday morning Clay addressed the media saying he was initiating an "operational and fiscal" audit of the Council office after shredded government documents were found in the offices of two fired staffers last week. Clay said the documents included "historical pay information" of employees and employee time sheets from 2010 - 2012. Clay said he also found pay raises for the former clerk and deputy clerk for 24% and 18% that were approved and given out in 2016 without Council notice.
