The Ottawa County board of commissioners has hired an attorney to take a look at threats

Gibbs is under contract through January 2026, but the county board has options to remove him if they choose. One would be terminating him without cause, but that needs 90 days written notice and Gibbs would get nine-months pay and health insurance. Gibbs' attorneys say there is no basis to terminate his job for cause.
