On February 14, explosions were heard off the coast of the temporarily occupied Crimea, and smoke was seen in the sea. Eyewitnesses report that the explosions were caused by a fire on one of the Russian ships, according to Krymskyi Viter Telegram channel.
The activity of several ships is noticeable in the sea, and a submarine is visible next to them. The loudest explosions were heard near Simeiz and the village of Katsiveli.
According to eyewitnesses, at least two helicopters were flying over the sea near Simeiz and Alupka.
Residents of southern Crimea spotted a Russian Ka-27 helicopter near the village of Foros. It is designed for search and rescue flights. On the night of February 1, fighters from one of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine units destroyed the Ivanovets missile boat of the Russian Black Sea Fleet with MAGURA V5 marine drones.
Kyiv-operated Crimean Wind Telegram channel both claimed a large Russian landing ship had been sunk.
Sources later named the sunken vessel as the Caesar Kunikov, a type of vessel used by Putin's armed forces to transport missiles and drones for attacks on Ukraine.
Ukrainian military intelligence in Kyiv claimed responsibility for sinking the amphibious assault ship Caesar Kunikov, reported Ukrainskaya Pravda.
'The Main Intelligence Directorate decided to congratulate the occupiers on Valentine's Day in their own way,' reported Crimean Wind channel.
Another Ukrainian channel Pravda Gerashchenko said: 'A Russian warship was attacked and sank shortly after the explosions.' The Caesar Kunikov sustained damage earlier in the war, and its then captain Alexander Chirva died from wounds in 2022.
An American Northrop Grumman RQ-4B Global Hawk reconnaissance drone was flying south of the incident doing repeated loops over the Black Sea, according to flight tracking portal Flightradar. It was between 62 and 75 miles south of the incident, before apparently returning to its base in Malta. But Ukrainian sources said there were no sounds of missiles or drones. Ukraine has previously used kamikaze marine drones to attack Russian warships.
The cost of the ship is 60-70 million dollars.http://youtube.com/kanal13az/join - click here and support Kanal13 monthly for distributing more videos and independent journalism
