The individual charged with the fatal shooting of a sheriff’s deputy in Tennessee last week, Kenneth DeHart, has been apprehended in Knoxville.

Blount County Sheriff James Lee Berrong confirmed the capture, stating that DeHart, 42, was taken into custody on Tuesday afternoon.

DeHart stands accused of shooting a deputy and injuring another during a traffic stop in Maryville on Thursday evening.

Following the incident, a manhunt was initiated, with authorities cautioning the public that he should be considered “armed and dangerous.”

Knoxville police, via the social media platform X, announced that DeHart was arrested at a residence in the city. No further details about the arrest were made available, NBC News reported.
