He was known to many as Quint from Steven Spielberg's "Jaws" and for playing the villains in "The Sting" alongside Robert Redford and in the James Bond film "From Russia With Love" opposite his old friend Sean Connery.

Shaw had a reputation as a hard drinking hellraiser. But underneath the gruff exterior was a man whose life had been one of suffering, beginning with a childhood tragedy and ending with his own fatal battle against a monster far more terrifying than any great white shark.
