McDufies cookies are sold worldwide. Owner Brian Thomas says "we ship as far as Dubai, lots of hotels across the United States and Canada." Brian's dad started the wholesale shortbread cookie business in 1976. About eight years ago Brian opened their first retail store in Clarence. The retail shop originally just sold coffee and shortbread but Brian says "the customers asked for bread." so they started making bread and eventually they started turning out pot pies. They now produce nine varieties of pot pies which are sold frozen and ready to bake at their retail stores. Brian points ot that "it was actually my Mom's recipe, and it was a hit right from the start." And just like Mom used to do it, the pies are made one at a time all by hand. Laura Corosi who is in charge of the pie fillings says the secret is "cream. lots and lots and lots of cream." The retail spots in Hamburg and East Aurora are called "Mr. Pot Pie" they feature Laura's homemade soups and al;l the sweet treats that they create at the Clarence location. Brian says "the pot pies are our most popular product." You can find more information about McDuffies Bakery and Mr. Pot Pie at their website.
