1859 Orange Cinnamon Cake with Raisins

2 1/2 lbs flour
3/4 lb sugar
3/4 lb butter, melted
1/2 lb currants or 1/4 lb raisins
1/4 lb orange peel
2 oz caraway seeds
1/2 oz cinnamon or ginger
4 tsp carbonate of soda
1 pint milk
Mix well. The butter must be well melted previous to being mixed with the ingredients.
Did we eat them? Yes
Would I make them again? Yes, but I think I got the amount of orange peel wrong. The orange taste was not strong enough.
