'No threat' to local town as Icelandic volcano erupts

A volcano in Iceland erupted on Thursday (February 8) for the second time this year, pumping lava up to 260 feet (80 meters) into the air in what is the sixth outbreak on the southwestern Reykjanes peninsula since 2021. Geophysicist Ari Trausti Gudmundsson told Reuters the eruption was unlikely to cause a threat to the local town, Grindavik.
