Volcano with Blue Flames

1st day in Java from my 15-day backpacking trip to Indonesia in December 2017. After a week in Flores and Bali (see part 1+2 of the series), we took a ferry to Java start our week-long trip west towards Jakarta. First stop was to explore Ijen Volcano with a sunrise hike. We headed out from the city of Banywangi to go to Ijen Base Camp 1 am. It was around 4:30 am when I arrived near the bottom of the crater to see the blue flames.
