Why did western air defense not work? The P-800 "Oniks" (П-800 "Оникс") is a Russian supersonic medium-range universal anti-ship missile. The missile is capable of flying at supersonic speeds in all phases of flight and can use different trajectories depending on the mission. The Onyx rocket has a length of 8 meters, a warhead of 300 kilograms and a maximum speed of Mach 2 (approximately 884 meters per second) with a range up to 300 kilometers. The Onyx rocket is equipped with a solid propellant upper stage, which immediately after launch is turned on in the combustion chamber of the main engine, accelerating the rocket to supersonic speed.
